User-centered Web Design

We've been designing Web sites since 1995 and we've found that the most successful Web sites are those that focus on the needs of the users, not the needs of the organization. This is called "user-centered" design, and it's the key Web design concept at Panther.

Content is structured according to each audience's needs, so they don't have to hunt for information. This is also called the "Don't make me think!" design philosophy
Navigation is obvious and consistent across all pages
Diverse navigation methods are supported for large sites: categories, prominent often-used links, site map, search, diverse ordering, non-graphical.
Images are only used to enhance understanding
Download times are quick
Links are surrounded by intelligible context
Advertising is clearly advertising
Site is accessible to users with disabilities, esp. visually impaired
Flash and other multimedia are utilized for specific reasons, not for the sake of themselves
